Initial Assessment

Initial Assessment                                                                         Dan Parkes

During August 2018, I started writing a script for a film called “Floor 33” I am hoping to bring that script to life this year as my short film project. To improve my script, I have some alterations to make so that the story makes sense and flows smoothly. Currently, I have only been able to complete the base script before I start altering it for the finished project but, I know what else I need to include to make a completed pre-production for the short film assignment.

For the rest of my pre-production, I know that I need to update my script to complete the script section of my pre-production. After I have completed my script, I am going to start my equipment list so that I know exactly what piece of equipment I am going to need and for which scene of my film, I am going to need that piece of equipment for. After my equipment list is done, I will be including within the equipment list as props are a form of equipment that will be used throughout the duration of my short film. After I have finished with my equipment/prop list, I will be moving on to a location scout, so that I can plan and decide on where I want to film and when I want or can film in these locations. Locations are very important because it gives more of a variety to surroundings in each scene and the circumstances that my characters will be in. Once my locations are completed and organized and agreed on, I will begin personnel list which means I can start to get people together to play characters in my film to help me complete this assignment and this will also end my pre-production section of my short film project.

Compared to first year’s short film project, I feel more confident this year as I don’t have to do a full pre-production which will leave me with more time to work on the practical side of this project as well as leaving me more time to work on the editing to make the final product to a more professional quality and higher standard as I would have more time to work on the film and be more creative and even change some parts of scenes slightly to increase the finished quality.
