Short Film Pre-Production - Proposal

The basic story for my short film, is about a group of scientists who create a machine with a unexpected repercussion.

The plot for my story is the lead scientist gets questioned about what this machine is supposed to do and once told, the team starts to have some concerns and questions if they should go any further with this project. One of the scientists has so many concerns about this project going horribly wrong, that she abandons the team as she does not want to see everything go wrong and possibly losing her friend in the process. It turns out that the machine is designed to cure schizophrenia by removing the selected personality and transforming it into disposable energy leaving the subject alive and with only their preferred personality. We also discover that the leading scientist Scott, has designed this machine because he suffers from schizophrenia and wishes to cure himself and everyone on earth who also suffers. Something goes wrong and the other personality ends up becoming its own person who is the dark version of Scott and we see the two on screen at the same time to prove that they're not the same person.

Character Breakdown:

Scott McArthur - lead scientist, hides information from his team about himself and the experiment.
Max Temple - Scotts alter-ego, dark, completely opposite of Scott.
David Goodman - part of the team, quite aggressive towards Lucy, skeptical.
John Clarke - part of the team, man with the technology, skeptical.
Lucy Green - part of the team, skeptical.
Claire Rochester part of the team, skeptical, cares about the team, worried about Scott.

Target Audience:

My target audience is probably for 12-15 year olds as there is quite a bit of explicit language and the story can also be a bit confusing for those below the age of 12. The reason I have chosen this age gap of 3 years is because I feel like 12-15 year olds would enjoy this movie and would want to learn a bit more about the split screen I will use in the editing for the end product.
